MHM Germany

Tanja Hock founded the German non-profit association “Mobile Hilfe Madagaskar e.V.” with the support of her family and friends in 2010. This created the legal and financial basis for her project.

The primary goal of the active association members in Germany is to collect donations to enable the valuable work that Tanja and her team do in Madagascar.

This is done, for example, by selling jams and handicraft products, presenting the work of the association at congresses, civic festivals, Christmas markets and the like.

Another focus will be crowdfunding on social media channels. The proceeds of all actions will go entirely as a donation to the association.

Larger tasks are the procurement of grants and large donations for the construction of the hospital, facilities for further education and training and ongoing operating costs.

The major activities of the association take place when Tanja, Fanilo and Fifaliana are in Germany: the general meeting followed by the summer or fall festival, where interested people, friends and supporters of our association meet.

This time also includes visits from major donors and events where Tanja personally presents the project.

MHM Germany is managed exclusively by volunteers. This is undoubtedly a great challenge, but one that we are happy to take on, as we are convinced of Tanja’s commitment to Madagascar and are committed to ensuring that this valuable work can continue.

MHM Madagascar

The work of MHM e.V. in Madagascar started very small. The people have accepted our offer of free medical care and so we have grown continuously. Currently, we employ 135 people from a wide range of professions. All of our local employees are Malagasy. For these people, this means having a secure job, a regular and reasonable income. With this they can feed their families and enable their children to attend school.

About 60 of our employees work in the medical field: doctors, dentists, midwives, nurses, anesthesia nurses, dental assistants. All others work in mechanics and construction, administration and finance, logistics, purchasing, warehousing, kitchen, cleaning and hygiene. Our youngest are taken care of by trained social workers and for our own safety we need a guard service.

When Tanja was in Kenya at the age of 15, her passion for Africa began and working with and for the people became her personal mission. In January 2006 she came to Madagascar with the Helimission. Everything she saw moved her greatly. The fact that newborns were being dumped at the garbage dump out of need was the initial spark for the midwife mobile. The infirmary of Nehemia Christian Relief Society, came promptly and then Tanja, family and friends founded the association Mobile Hilfe Madagaskar e.V.. She lives permanently in Madagascar with her two adopted children Fanilo and Fifaliana and manages the project on site.

She supports, preferably in the background always where help is needed and is thus a great help for Tanja and the association.

She got to know the project during a stay in 2015 and was immediately enthusiastic about the work done there. Since then, she and her husband Dr. Martin Führing have been involved in the project both on site and in Germany, both medically and organizationally. In Germany, she works for the association in the area of future planning and crowdfunding.

She supports in logistical things, purchasing, shipping, creating documents and proofreading. And much more….
