Health Center
All outpatient examinations and preventive care are performed here. Midwives take care of family planning, prenatal and postnatal care, newborns and vaccinations. Our general practitioners have a normal consultation hour for all age groups, and at the dentist’s office, everyone who comes to us is cared for, from small to large.
Previously, we worked at the health center from Monday to Friday, but the increasing demand has extended our opening hours to Saturdays as well. For emergencies, the hospital’s medical team is available 24 hours a day, every day of the week.
The administration with the offices is located on the upper floor, because paperwork is also necessary here, often even more than in Germany.
Dentist Mobile
Since summer 2012, our dental mobile is ready for use.
And from that time it was permanently at the infirmary and since June 2015 it goes once a month for a week into the bush, the Malagasy teeth urgently need our help. In addition, we bring our patients from the night programs to the dental mobile at the infirmary. It is not uncommon for us to see adults and children who have holes rotted in their cheeks due to lack of dental care.
Furthermore, we take care of 3 schools and a dormitory project with a total of 1000 children. There we do not only preventive care but also prophylaxis by providing the children with toothbrushes and toothpaste and showing them how to use them.
Just the thought of the grateful smiles of the people whose toothache has been remedied makes us happy.
Ambulance
A German standard ambulance for our emergencies.
Since 2011 we have had an ambulance from Germany on site. This car has now been used up in the bad road conditions, so we have since put a better replacement on the road. It is equipped according to German standards.
The ambulance is needed to transfer special emergencies to larger hospitals in the capital, which is an hour’s drive away. In addition, we help out other aid organizations in emergency situations.
In Madagascar, there are otherwise only hospital-owned ambulances, whose travel time and equipment do not correspond to what we know from Germany. We have already been able to save many lives and bring the sick safely and gently to the hospital.
In the future, we will intensify the staff training in cooperation with the surrounding medical facilities and then women with complications in pregnancy and during childbirth can be transferred from there to us, the ambulance will then also be needed for this!
