Unfortunately, joy and sorrow are often close to each other. We experience the difference between these two worlds every day here in Madagascar.
The biggest challenge for Mobile Hilfe Madagascar e.V. is to be able to regularly guarantee the financing of hospital operations and personnel costs.
Each of our more than 120 employees supports a family with an average of 6 members with their monthly salary. This means that approximately 750 people are directly dependent on our salary payments. Our annual expenses for personnel amount to approx. 160,000€ (as of 2021).
Our hospital – i.e. medical care only – has an area of 768 m² on two floors. If we manage to get 20 € for each square meter as a monthly donation, we can already cover half of the monthly costs.
The greatest help in accomplishing this task is regular support, with which we can ensure the operation.

What does our hospital do?
Main focus
- Obstetrics and emergency operating rooms
- Premature infant intensive care and monitoring unit
- General medical consultations
- Dental consultations
- Special plastic surgery and pediatric orthopedic care by external surgical teams from Germany
Treatments
- Pregnancy care according to German maternity guidelines incl. ultrasound examinations
- Obstetric care incl. cesarean deliveries
- Outpatient and inpatient care of pregnant women with complications (e.g. threatened premature birth, maternal pregnancy diseases)
- Care and treatment of premature and malnourished children from the 30th week of pregnancy onwards
- General treatments as in a German family practice
- Free surgical treatment of facial clefts, clubfeet, clefts in the building ceiling, etc., which are widespread in Madagascar, by German surgical teams twice a year
